Amessage from Billy Amato - While still in grief, losing your best friend is a horrific experience no pet owner should ever have to face. It is one of the most unnatural things that can happen to a dog owner. It is something many pet owners fear at one time or another, but probably never expect to actually experience. I have learned first, it is important to understand that grieving is a process and that process takes time. Every person travels through this process at a different rate. I do not try to compare myself to anyone else to determine how well I am doing. In my progressing, even slowly, then others doing just fine. I stay focused on my own recovery. My tears no longer flow as quickly or last as long, it has been very hard and I wish to thank my friends who have come to my aid.

Jake - Fall 2010
THE RAINBOW BRIDGE
By the edge of a woods, at the foot of a hill, Is a lush, green meadow where time stands still. Where your best friend dies when their time on earth is over and done. It is called The Rainbow Bridge for here, between this world and the next, this is a place where each beloved pet finds rest. On this golden land, they run and they play, until The Rainbow Bridge they cross over one day. No more do they suffer, in pain or in sadness, for here they are whole, their lives filled with gladness. Their limbs are restored, their health renewed, their bodies have healed, with strength imbued. They romp through the grass, without even a care, there is one thing missing, they are not with their special friend who loved them so much on earth. Until one day, Jake your friend suddenly stops, and sniff at the air… All ears prick forward, eyes dart front and back, Then all of a sudden, Jake breaks from the pack...
Billy, you have been seen...
For just at that instant, Jake and your eyes have met; Together again, both Billy and Jake. So they run to each other, these friends from long past, you take Jake in your arms and embrace as you did on his last day on earth, The time of your parting is over at last. The sadness Billy and Jake felt while they were apart, has turned into joy once more in each heart. You both embrace with a love that will last forever, and then, side-by-side, Billy and his best friend Jake cross over The Rainbow Bridge together, never to be separated again.
Jake & Billy in Central Park - Summer 1998
Jake-Fall 2010
Hi! Meet "Jake", and his best friend and buddy, Billy Amato. Billy has taken many pictures of Jake here on his web page. Jake is from Manhattan on the Upper West Side (that's in New York City), and a summer place in Amagansett, New York.
"2007 Central Park Paws - Calendar" "Did you know in 2007, Jake was the cover boy for the month of May in the first Central Park Calendar called "Central Park Paws" that was published by the Central Park Conservancy".
-- Jake was going to be 15 years old February 10th and he was the most wonderful "Brittany" you have ever seen. Jake was the best thing that ever happen to me, he was a 'God Send' a God's gift of love. I put this page together for Jake and now Jake has his very own web page for all the world to see him on the internet forever. He is so kewl now!
Jake's father past away when Jake was 3yo, he was in a car accident while working in the field's and he ran across the roadway and got hit by a car.Jake was very proud of his father. His name was: (DC) "Longviews Hopefull Experience" and was a "Dual Champion". His Mother was from upstate New York and her name is: (CH) "Tantara's VAJ Valentine", she was a Champion and past away when she turned 12yo.
Jake's breeder is: Nancy and Tony Morabito from the Albany New York area and my real name is: "Tonan's Billy's Boy Jake" He was a AKC certified pedigree and 'Puppy Champion’.
Jake's Favorite Activities was:
Long walks in Central Park, Hudson River Park, playing ball, running on Block Island, RI and swimming on the beaches in Amagansett, Long Island and week long vacations to Lake Placid, New York.
Jake loved to dig a lot on the beach, as you can see below... Jake can go for ever with this game. It's called: "drop the ball in the hole" than finding and digging it out. I went everywhere with him.
Jake also had the best dog walker and many friends in NYC with mid afternoon walks with Martin MacKinnon a/k/a "Martin yer Dog Walker", he took Jake out with his buddys and played: "Kick the Ball" and Jake would run after the ball in the woods of Central Park and he would bring it back to him. Than Martin would hide the ball in the trees for the next day play and that was so much fun every weekday afternoon and Jake always shared his toys with his friends, if you like to say hi to Martin MacKinnon his e-mail address is: Ooyabas@aol.com.
My General Appearance:
Jake was in the Sporting Group, compact, close knit kind of guy of a medium size. He was a big guy and very handsome. He was a leggy guy by appearance, as well as the agility, of a great ground coverer, Very strong, vigorous, energetic and very quick movement.
His tail is approximately four inches and born that way as most top of the line Brittany’s are. Jake's color was Orange and White and his gate is so smooth, efficient, and my temperament is very happy and very alert, neither mean nor shy.
Jake loved kids and love to play ball and swim with them, his coat was dense, flat and wavy with a great texture.
Jake's skin is 'Fine' and fairly loose, his chest is Deep and his back is Straight, his flanks are Rounded and fairly full, his bite is a true scissors bite, his hindquarter is broad strong and muscular, with powerful thighs and well bent stifles, giving the angulations necessary for powerful drive, his hind legs: ~~ Stifles well bent, his feet are strong and close fitting, well arched toes and thick pads.
Jake's height was about 22 1/2 inches (He was almost 25in.) and his weight is about 38-48 pounds (his weight was 41 pounds in October 2011).
His body length is approximately the same as the height when measured at the shoulders. Expression: ~~ Alert and eager, but with the soft expression of a field bird dog.
His Eyes: ~~ Were blue at birth until about 3 months than turns green/brown, well set in the head, well protected from briars by a heavy, expressive eyebrow.
His Ears: ~~ Set high, above the level of his eyes, short and triangular, they lie flat and close to his head and a little fringe. His Skull and Muzzle: ~~ Medium in size.
His Nose: ~~ Deep Pink! - Never shiny, the girls love it. Well that’s what he looked like!
